Milky blue & white ombre opaque glassware. Has an ominous smoky white band gracefully running through each piece.
A stunning example of Scandinavian “Reffla” or grooves, made by Gullaskruf of Sweden and designed by Arthur Percy in the early 1950’s.
Groove relief lines on the exterior and smooth on the inside.
Per our research, this blue is extremely rare.
Measures: 7 3/4″ tall x 6 3/8″ wide at mouth x 2 3/8″ wide at base
Condition: Outstanding but with a small flaw. See last photo of two tiny flea bites. These pieces have been prized and therefore well kept for over 70 years.
Arthur Percy, 1886-1976, was born on the Island of Öland and was to live most of his life there. While working throughout his active years designing for various glass companies, Percy was first and foremost a painter. He worked in design for three months every year and for the rest of the year he painted. The last ten years was spent painting.
From 1951 until 1965 he designed glass for Gullaskrufs Glasbruk where he among other popular designs created the glass series REFFLA.
