Gold Paisley Moroccan Highball Cocktail Glasses by Culver, Set of 4

A beautiful set of four (4) 22-kt gold paisley highball cocktail glasses with Moorish pattern, by Culver, Brooklyn, New York, circa mid to late-20th century. This design is a rare and hard to find. Glasses have three design motifs, paisley, tree-of-life, and leaf topiary, all within a framed Moorish/Moroccan design. Many design details including gold architecture, foliage, and small bird with piece of wheat as shown. Makers’ mark ‘Culver’ on all four (please see last image.) A great set for display or for any bar, bar cart, entertaining area, etc. A standout for any cocktail and get-together. Dimensions: 2.75″ Diameter x 5.63″ Height.

About Culver:
Founded in Brooklyn, NY in 1939, Culver Ltd. (aka Culver Glass) was an American glass manufacturer. The company produced over 75 glassware patterns and is best known for its mid-century designs. Most of its glassware patterns feature a 22k gold foil overlay. The glassware was lavish and opulent cocktail-ware. Culver started the application of 22-karat gold to their glassware, a super-heated, roll-on process of gold, a process that remains a secret today. The designs ranged from geometric patterns and abstract motifs to nature-inspired themes like florals and animals. Glasses were commonly used for entertaining and special occasions, and they became particularly popular during the mid-century modern era. The company stopped producing its gold overlay pieces in the late 1980s and was sold to Moderne Glass Company in the mid-1990s.
