Mid-Century Modern Italian Walnut, Brass & Glass Writing Desk, 1950s

Very elegant Italian Mid-Century Modern desk writing table, with glass top and beautiful shape of the side and back, where we find the maker’s details, Andrea Macchi fu Giosue in Gallarate, a village in the surroundings of the city of Milan. On the front side a central drawer and four drawers on each side completed with great handles. The unique and typical design, with the clean geometric shape and decoration enrich the natural pattern and grain of the wood making this a true statement piece in any interior style. The Mid-Century and Scandinavian Modern style, here with an Art Deco influence, is a design movement defined by simple forms, clean lines, organic curves, high functionality, rich colors, and a passion for different materials and shapes.
